Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands, off the coast of West Africa.

Fancying some sun we booked a week’s half board at a lovely complex near Playa de los Pocillos in November. The weather was beautiful, comfortably warm and a welcome change from our wintry weather. It was odd to see Christmas trees and decorations in the bright sunshine.

We hired a car and visited beaches, volcanos, caves, quaint villages and busy markets.
